Grow the Canopy: Free Trees Are Coming to Campus Hills in Spring 2027!
Shade, beauty, and free trees for our neighborhood!
Hello Campus Hills Community — it’s time to grow something wonderful together.
Why this matters: New trees will help create cooler sidewalks, more beautiful streets, and a healthier environment for everyone in Campus Hills. In Maryland, houses in neighborhoods with mature trees and dense urban canopies generally see their property values increase by an average of 7 to 15% compared to similar homes in less-forested areas. In higher-income regions, this premium can surge even higher due to the aesthetic and privacy benefits mature trees provide”
What’s Happening
Additional trees are coming to the median strip on Goucher Blvd. Baltimore County is also evaluating the current median trees and will replace any that are diseased or unhealthy with fresh young saplings ready to grow.
Baltimore County will handle planting, mulching, and watering for the first year—the most important year for helping young trees take root and thrive. And the best part? These trees are offered at NO COST.
How to Get a Free Tree in Front of Your Home
This program is limited to street trees planted in Baltimore County rights-of-way, including along Goucher Blvd. and in the green strips between streets and sidewalks.
- Choose your favorite tree from the list below.
- Email the Campus Hills Tree Steward at chcatreestewards@gmail.com or Information@CampusHills.org by October 30 with your selection.
- Sit back, relax, and watch your new tree grow!
Good to know: Trees will be planted in the public right-of-way—the grassy area between the sidewalk and the street—not in private yards. Baltimore County will plant, mulch, and water the tree for one year and install a “root blocker” to help guide roots away from sidewalks.
